Zeina Akar: “A Genocide Committed by the Israeli Killing Machine Against Palestinians”

As part of the “All Eyes on Rafah” campaign, which swept through social media, especially Instagram, showing solidarity with the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, former minister and businesswoman Zeina Akar tweeted on her “X” account: “What is happening in Rafah is a major humanitarian crime and genocide committed by the Israeli killing machine. The Arab and international community must act immediately and take the necessary and immediate measures to stop the ongoing systematic war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people.” Link to the tweet

Over the past two days, Instagram has seen a significant interaction with an expressive image titled “All Eyes on Rafah.” As of the time of writing this report, the image has reached over 41 million people, with the number of shares increasing every hour.

Zeina Akar’s solidarity with the campaign is not new, as she has expressed her support for the Palestinian cause several times since the beginning of the war on Gaza. Additionally, Akar organizes cultural activities in collaboration with others to support the cause.

“Nabu” Raises Funds for the “Ghassan Abu Sitta Fund”

Unlike other cultural spaces that remain silent on the Israeli genocide in Gaza, Nabu Museum, in collaboration with “Al Madina Theatre” in Beirut, launched a series of cultural and artistic events titled “Peace to Gaza,” which began on the evening of January 8th and extended for a week until the 14th.

This event is in line with the belief in the active role of art and culture in serving humanitarian causes, especially the Palestinian cause. Nabu Museum, in collaboration with “Al Madina Theatre” on Hamra Street, held a solidarity week for Gaza titled “Peace to Gaza,” which included theatrical, cinematic, and musical dance performances. During the evenings, financial donations were collected for the “Ghassan Abu Sitta Children’s Fund,” recently initiated by Jawad Adra and others.

The solidarity week also featured an art exhibition by several artists, all of whom donated their works for the benefit of Gaza’s children. While “Al Madina Theatre” invited the public to attend for free, both the theatre and Nabu Museum announced that all contributions and donations would go to the Ghassan Abu Sitta Children’s Fund.

This event comes at a time when the audience is thirsty for committed art that supports just causes, especially the Palestinian cause, which Nabu Museum administration is keen on promoting. The Nabu administration strives to present the finest musical and artistic performances in its space.

It should be noted that Nabu Museum is a space for displaying artworks and functions as an institution to maintain the connection of communities with their culture through educational programs, training, organized tours, public lectures, and guided exhibitions. The museum is named after the god of writing and wisdom in Mesopotamia and is located on the Mediterranean coast, specifically in Ras Shakaa, northern Lebanon. Nabu Museum offers a unique collection of artistic artifacts dating back to the early Bronze and Iron Ages and to the Roman, Greek, and Byzantine eras, in addition to rare manuscripts and ethnographic materials.
